Privacy Policy.

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Last updated: October 2026

The Immigrant Development Center (“IDC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) places a high priority on protecting the privacy of our donors, program participants, volunteers, employees, and visitors to this Website. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.

This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you, or that you may provide, when you visit immigrantdevelopmentcenter.org (our “Website”), and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information. We promise to collect only the personal information necessary to advance our mission.

This policy applies to information we collect:

  • on this Website; and
  • in email, text, and other electronic messages between you and this Website.

It does not apply to information collected by us offline or through any other means, or by any third party, including through any application or content that may link to or be accessible from the Website.

Please read this policy carefully. By accessing or using this Website, you agree to this privacy policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is not to use our Website. We may update this policy from time to time (see Changes to This Policy); your continued use of the Website after we post changes means you accept those changes.

Children under the age of 16

Our Website is not intended for children under 16 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 16 without verified parental consent, we will delete it. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 16, please contact us at contact@immigrantdevelopmentcenter.org.

Information we collect and how we collect it

We collect several types of information from and about users of our Website, including:

  • information by which you may be personally identified — such as name, postal address, email address, and telephone number (“personal information”); and
  • information about your internet connection, the equipment you use to access our Website, and usage details.

We collect this information directly from you when you provide it, and automatically as you navigate through the site.

Information you provide to us

This may include:

  • information and messages you submit through our contact form, and records of your correspondence with us;
  • your email address when you sign up to receive updates or our newsletter;
  • information you provide when you apply to volunteer;
  • details of donations you make (payment-card details are handled by our payment processor, not stored by us); and
  • your responses to any surveys and your search queries on the Website.

Information we collect automatically

As you navigate through the Website, we may use automatic data-collection technologies to collect details of your visits — such as traffic data, logs, your IP address, operating system, and browser type. This information is statistical only and does not by itself identify you, although we may maintain it or associate it with personal information you provide. It helps us estimate audience size and usage patterns and improve the Website.

The technologies we use may include cookies (small files placed on your device; you may refuse them through your browser settings, though some parts of the Website may then not work) and web beacons (small electronic files that let us count visitors and gather related site statistics). We do not collect personal information automatically.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect, including any personal information, to:

  • present our Website and its contents to you;
  • respond to your questions and requests, and provide the information or services you ask for;
  • process and acknowledge your donation;
  • deliver programs and services, and coordinate volunteer involvement;
  • send you newsletters and updates you have opted in to receive;
  • carry out our legal, grant, audit, and reporting obligations; and
  • fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it, or with your consent.

We may also contact you about events and services that may interest you. If you would rather we did not, you can opt out at any time (see Your choices).

How we share your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to other organizations for their own use. We may disclose aggregated information that does not identify any individual without restriction. We may disclose personal information you provide:

  • to trusted service providers who support our operations — for example, our donation platform (Zeffy), our contact-form provider, our volunteer-application provider (JotForm), and our optional on-page translation tool (Google Translate) — who may process the information only as needed to provide their service and under their own privacy terms;
  • to comply with a court order, law, or legal process, or to respond to a lawful government or regulatory request;
  • if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of IDC, the people we serve, or others, including for fraud protection; and
  • to a successor organization in the event of a merger, reorganization, dissolution, or transfer of some or all of IDC’s assets.

Your choices

  • Emails. You may opt out of our promotional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us; this will not affect messages about a specific donation or request.
  • Cookies. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent.
  • Access and correction. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing contact@immigrantdevelopmentcenter.org.

Data security

We have implemented reasonable measures designed to protect your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. However, no method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure; while we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its security, and any transmission is at your own risk.

Donor privacy

We hold ourselves to additional commitments for the people who give. See our Donor Privacy Policy for details.

Third-party links

Our Website may link to third-party websites operated under their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for information you submit to third parties, and we encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site before sharing information with it.

Visitors from outside the United States

IDC is based in the United States, and information you provide is processed and stored in the United States. Privacy laws in the United States may differ from, and in some cases be less protective than, the laws of your country.
