We serve people of every language and ability, and our website should reflect that. We are committed to making it usable for everyone.

Our commitment

The Immigrant Development Center (“IDC”) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to this website.

Conformance status

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we test and refine the site over time.

Measures we take

Accessibility features built into this website include:

  • readable text sizes and color contrast that meet AA standards;
  • full keyboard navigation with visible focus indicators;
  • descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images;
  • a logical heading structure and semantic markup for screen readers;
  • support for reduced motion — animations ease off when your device requests it;
  • a responsive layout that works across phones, tablets, and desktops; and
  • on-page translation into 100+ languages through the language selector in the menu.

Compatibility

This website is designed to be compatible with recent versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge) and with common assistive technologies, including screen readers and speech-recognition software. Using the most current versions of your browser and assistive technology gives the best experience.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some limitations may remain. For example, third-party content we embed — such as our independent transparency seal, machine translation, and downloadable PDF documents — may not be fully accessible, as it is created and controlled by others. If you encounter a barrier with any such content, please contact us and we will provide the information you need in an alternative format.

Feedback and requesting help

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you have difficulty using any part of it, or need information in another format, please tell us — we will help you directly and work to fix the issue:

We try to respond to accessibility feedback within a few business days. When you contact us, it helps to include the page address and a description of the problem.
