Donor Privacy Policy.

Your generosity deserves our discretion. This policy explains how we protect the information of everyone who gives, and the rights you have as a donor.

Last updated: October 2026

The Immigrant Development Center (“IDC,” “we,” or “us”) is grateful for every gift and committed to protecting the privacy of our donors. This policy applies to information collected when you make a donation, whether online or offline, and supplements our general Privacy Policy.

Information we collect from donors

When you make a gift, we may collect:

  • your name and contact information (postal address, email, and phone number);
  • your giving history and the designation or purpose of your gift;
  • payment information needed to process your donation; and
  • any comments or preferences you share with us.

Online gifts are processed by our donation platform, Zeffy. Your payment-card details are handled securely by the payment processor and are never stored on our website. We receive only the information needed to acknowledge your gift and meet our reporting requirements.

How we use donor information

  • to process your gift and send you a receipt or acknowledgment;
  • to thank you and, if you have opted in, share the impact of your support;
  • to keep accurate records and steward our relationship with you; and
  • to meet IRS, grant, audit, and other legal and reporting obligations.

We never sell or trade donor information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share our donor lists — including names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, or giving history — with any other organization for their own use. We share donor information only with the service providers that help us operate (such as our donation platform and, where applicable, mail or email providers), who may use it solely to provide their service to us, and when required by law or to protect against fraud.

Your rights as a donor

We adhere to the Donor Bill of Rights. Among other things, you have the right to:

  • give anonymously, and have your gift kept confidential to the extent allowed by law;
  • know how your donation is used and that it is applied to its intended purpose;
  • receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition — or to decline recognition;
  • ask us at any time to stop contacting you, or to correct or remove your information from our records; and
  • expect that all relationships with us will be handled with professionalism and respect.

To exercise any of these choices, email contact@immigrantdevelopmentcenter.org or call (218) 284-8020.

Communications and opting out

If you opt in, we may send you occasional updates, newsletters, and invitations. You can opt out of these at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us — this will not affect receipts or other messages about a specific gift.

Data security and retention

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect donor information, and we retain records for the periods required by law, by our funders, and for sound financial management. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We post any changes to this policy on this page, with the date it was last revised shown at the top. Please check back periodically for updates.
