Our History

The Immigrant Development Center (IDC) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2003 to promote economic opportunities for low-income immigrants and refugees in the Fargo- Moorhead Area.

IDC was founded by Fowzia Adde, a Somali immigrant who saw firsthand the challenges and barriers facing new Americans in our community. Many immigrants and refugees have valuable skills, experience, and ideas for businesses, but lack the language skills, cultural know-how, finances, and credit to turn their dreams into reality in the U.S.

IDC was created to address this gap. We provide tailored services and guidance to help immigrants and refugees successfully launch and grow businesses and build financial stability.

Over the past 20 years, We have assisted hundreds of immigrant and refugee families on their pathway to the American dream of business ownership and financial security. We remain committed to this mission and to fostering the inclusive, diverse, and vibrant community we all want to live in
